The area&#8217;s clay-limestone soils, ideal for vines to absorb necessary moisture, produce red wines with specific general characteristics, such as a bright, vibrant color, a fine aroma, a fruity taste, and a pleasant palate.<\/p><p>Red wines are the most representative of the region and are made with Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano grape varieties.<\/p><p>The Abbey of Retuerta is a famous monastery founded in the 12th century, located in the province of Valladolid (Castilla y Le\u00f3n), with luxurious rooms and suites designed to preserve the historic atmosphere of the setting. The Abbey of Retuerta is also known for its high-quality wine production, &#8220;Pago de la Gardu\u00f1a,&#8221; a Protected Designation of Origin Vino de Pago.<\/p><p>With wonderful vineyard views, bicycle rentals to explore the surroundings, and one-hour access to the Sanctuary, Wellness Center &amp; Spa, as well as the Gym and Yoga Room, upon reservation.<\/p><p>All rooms include:<\/p><p>Bodegas Muga<\/p><p>This historic winery is one of the most prestigious in La Rioja and produces some of the best wines in the region. It also houses some fascinating ancient frescoes.<\/p><p>Laguna Negra &#8211; This stunning natural lagoon is nestled in the mountains near the town of Vinuesa, and is said to have inspired one of Spain\u2019s most famous legends.
