Water Routes
The Urquijo Baths are a marvelous spot with a natural waterfall where you can take a refreshing swim. The path along the riverbank is about a 20-minute walk. The place is surprising—a natural SPA. A powerful waterfall cascades from above. From Dúrcal, it’s a walkable 20-minute journey.
The Barranco de la Luna is one of the most family-friendly trails in the Lecrín Valley and Granada province. It winds through a deep gorge carved by water in the Barranco de la Luna, next to the town of Saleres. The gorge will surprise you. It’s a roughly 700-meter route, but with great beauty. The river has carved a narrow, deep passage in the rock, with high rock walls on both sides. Due to its depth and the proximity of the walls, sunlight creates a magnificent visual effect.
Route to Another Era
In the Albaycín, you’ll find many “cármenes,” typical Granada houses with gardens, and Mudejar-style towers. The viewpoints of San Nicolás and San Cristóbal offer magnificent views of Granada and the Alhambra. It’s best to climb the tower of the latter or have dinner at a restaurant with a view. Remains of mosques, minarets, and Hispano-Muslim cisterns are still preserved, and there is a distinctly Andalusian flavor and the vibrant, cheerful air of everyday life. The Los Tarantos cave offers a show worthy of the best flamenco.
The Camino de los Tristes transports visitors through the nostalgia of a time now distant, with the Alhambra watching from above.

Religious and Cultural Route
In addition to the wonderful Alhambra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and other cultural and religious heritage sites, we highly recommend not missing the Monastery of San Jerónimo. Starting at 6:00 p.m., you can listen to the chanting of the Jerónimas sisters in their church. Buy some biscuits and jams made by them. Construction began in 1521, and the first community of Hieronymite monks came to live here. They remained until the Mendizábal disentailment (1835), after which it was used as barracks. In the 1970s, it was again transferred to the Order of Saint Jerome, and after a process of restoration and recovery, it returned to its original function, now housing the Jerónimas sisters.
Have dinner at one of the tapas spots in the old town, where a tapa always accompanies your drink at Tasca La Carmelita.
